Meccha Chameleon is a unique multiplayer hide-and-seek game that challenges players to think creatively and pay close attention to their surroundings. Unlike traditional hide-and-seek games, Meccha Chameleon gives players powerful tools to blend into the environment, making every match an exciting contest between clever disguise and sharp observation. Players can choose to play as either a chameleon or a hunter, with each role offering a completely different gameplay experience.

The goal of the game depends on the role a player chooses. As a hunter, the objective is to search the map for hidden chameleons and eliminate them before the time limit expires. Hunters must carefully inspect every corner of the environment because the chameleons may be disguised as ordinary objects. If a hunter spots a hidden player, they can shoot them to remove them from the match. Success requires patience, keen eyesight, and the ability to notice anything that seems out of place.

Playing as a chameleon is a very different experience. Instead of running away, chameleons survive by hiding in plain sight. Each player begins as a white, bipedal character that can be customized to match the environment. The game's main mechanic allows chameleons to paint themselves using different colors. They can use a color picker to choose a color manually or an eyedropper tool to copy the exact color of nearby objects, making their disguise much more convincing.

In addition to changing color, chameleons have several ways to alter their appearance. They can transform themselves into different shapes, such as a cube or a blob, to resemble objects found around the map. Players can also strike different poses, including curling up into a ball or lying flat on the ground, allowing them to blend naturally into the scenery. To make disguises even more believable, chameleons can change their size or create clones of themselves, making it even harder for hunters to determine which object is actually a player.
