Tchort - Investigation or Preservation?

I've completed all the quests from both.  While I love dominating & being hardcore all that, I'm also pretty intrigued by the science & study going on here in Tchort.  I'm thinking I'd rather join Investigation than Preservation.

If you can keep it as spoiler-free as possible, does it matter which one I join?

AFAICT there's no reason not to do all the quests from each branch.  When they tell you to go talk to Boss Lady, just go do the other quests you haven't finished yet.  Then mosey on upstairs whenever you feel like it and pick one.  It's just flavor at that point.
