explain shotgun shells
« on: August 11, 2019, 08:25:37 am »
hi, can anybody explain how different shells work on different enemies?
I have all main shotgun feats and about to craft my first combat shotgun.

I can tell you how I think they work.

Every shotgun shell has different armor bypass values - the less the pellet count, the more the threshold bypass. Shotguns shoot in a cone and generally have low accuracy, each target in the cone has a chance to be hit by a number of pellets. The closer they are, the more pellets that will hit them, although, and again, I think that the final damage shows in a single number no matter how many pellets hit the target. All I have ever shot is a short barreled shotgun so I may be missing something, but I'm guessing this is the general idea behind shotguns. They are pseudo melee weapons.

Yellow shells are good against enemies with low mechanical resist/treshold
Grey shells are good against most enemies except those with high mechanical resistance/treshold
Red are good versus high mechanical resist/treshold enemies
Tungsten are good versus really high mechanical resistance enemies and provide a bit a control because they can stun

Basically use reds  or tungsten againts robots, burrower warriors, crabs, big psi beetles, tactical vest and metal armor enemies...

Use grey and yellows against others
