Are leading shot and barrel stare mutually exlcusive?

Barrel stare does extra damage against enemies in close melee range and leading shot says it works as long as there are no enemies in melee range, does that mean both feats can not activate at the same time?

Yes, you can't have both bonus for the same shot.

But that doesn't mean it can't be useful, if you nullified enemy's evasion somehow - stun/incapacitation/trap you don't need Leading Shot, and can use Barrel Stare. Or you can't move from enemy that's close to you, thus you lose LS bonus anyway, but you have at least BS bonus that somehow compensate loss of accuracy. It's just it rarely useful.

Now that you mention it, i have failed attacks against stunned and trapped foes, sometines twice in a row, could that be a bug or just plain bad luck?
