Hey,

It might soud lazy but maybe you could ask Tygrende if he could decode it but IF he did he would need some screens.
But it never hurts to ask.

I think I know what the problem is. I've been playing Expedition on easy for the first go so maybe on easy they just give you the code straight up. So let me explain how to solve for the cipher for the alphabet. A little bit more complicated.

Okay, so here the octave keys are important. The first, second and third number of each octave key refers to the octave number (360 for example).

For our first octave block (Letters A to L) we will start counting at octave 6 and apply only the first interval key in the same way I've described. eg. Major 7th (11 semitones) so therefore A=B3 (as in Octave level 3) B=C4 (because we've reached a new octave level now) C=C#4 and so on.

For the second octave block (Letters M-X) you apply the first and second interval keys and use the second number of the octave key as the starting point. e.g. (Major 7th (11 semitones) Perfect 4th (5 semitones) We will count 16 semitones from C6, this means our second cipher block will start at M=E7 and so on until U=C8.

Do the same for the third octave block (Y, Z 0-9) using the first and third interval key and the third number of the octave key. For example in this one (Major 7th (11 semitones) and minor 6th (8 semitones) so we count 19 from C0. This will then start at Y=G1 and so on.

Now that you have your cipher completed you can start decoding the text. For example (the first 3 numbers were used earlier so they aren't part of the text!):

First Octave key: (360)74477744787 (These numbers refer to which octave level/number to choose from. Listed in the superscript above)
First line of text: GbDEb BGb BGbEb BbCF (There refer to which note to chose in the cipher)

So for this example the text will be "ODE TO THE SUN"

You can then repeat this for the rest of the text. On harder difficulties maybe the octave keys change so you have to develop a new cipher each time. In which case follow the steps from the beginning. Hopefully this answers everybody's questions. If you really can't do it leave a post with all the info (Text, Interval keys and Octave keys) here and I'll look at it and help if I can. As for the code I'm not sure how you'll pull it from the text but I guess it remains to be seen.

Hi all,

Well, the MAIN problem in decoding the cipher is HOW to pull out the 4 digits??? I see no possible way or tip to how I would find those 4 digits! I think it is impossible. And there are 10 000 combinations possible...

SO the question is - DiD anyone ever reached to get the code??? Is it even possible? You could find out any text or any numbers or any letters, but HOW you can pull out the 4 digits out of it???

Sorry for my bad english. Also, I dont have the text for 4 digits in my case.

I still have not been able to find the code inside my version of the song and I really have no idea how to go about isolating the four numbers needed to get through the door. I wonder if there is some clue in the other messages on the computers that would help or if there is some other hidden hint somewhere.

I feel stupid like I never felt before... The person who invented this cipher, must be absolutely genious... I did all I could and tried to figure out anything, but without any succes. All is just nonsense and abra-cadabra...

Hi, I solved yours for you and from what I see there are two possibilities. Here is your deciphered text.

1. DREAMS OF 3 ASPHIXIATION (The reason this is underlined is that it appears to be a mistake in the octave key where it should be 4 instead of 1. Possibly this 1 is part of the code)
2. SERVANT 3 DANCE
3. MARRIAGE OF A 2 SUBISLANDER
4. MARCH OF SEVEN THE PROTECTORS.

First I would try 3327 as your code. If that doesn't work then try 3132.

Hope this helps.

OK. I'll try my best to write a guide most people would understand.

My code is attached for your information.

First, note that the first three numbers of 4 octave keys are the same. In my case, it is 024.

Divide 36 characters (A-Z and 0-9) into three blocks. The 1st block consists of A-L; the 2nd block consists of M-X; the 3rd block consist of Y-Z and 0-9. Combine with the first three octave keys. We can make a table matching texts/numbers, code and octave. (As shown in "Initial.jpg")

The table is not final since there is another piece of the puzzle: the interval key.

My interval key is: Perfect Unison (0), Minor Third (3) and Minor Sixth (8 ). We need to shift the text down based on these numbers.

According to one of the email, the first number (0) is the "Transpose key" which affects all blocks. Since it is 0 in my example so we don't have to shift.

The 2nd and 3rd numbers are the "Modulate Keys" which affect block 2 and 3, we need to shift the text down. After that we get the final table (As shown in "Final.jpg") for decoding.

Finally, look at the text and octave keys (start from the 4th number since the first three letters are already used and irrelevant to the text.

The first word in the 1st sentence is
(Eb Ab E C Eb A)
(0   2   0 0 2   2)
Base on the final table, we get (C#=Db, D#=Eb, F#=Gb, G#=Ab, A#=Bb):
(D R E A M S)

Repeat for all lines, we get:
DREAMS 9 OF ASPHYXIATION
RIME OF THREE THE SECURITY MARINE
SERVANT SIX DANCE
RESTLESS NINE WAVES CAPRICE

The numbers are hidden in the texts. So the password is 9369.

I sort of solved all of mine
360747744777374724377444
36077747747477277477774
36074477774744777
360474747374744777444474743747477

RESTLESS WAVES _  CAPRICE
OMNIPRESENT _ PRESSURE
ODE TO ONE THE SUN
CULTIVATING FOUR LIGHT IN DARKNESS

I just don't know what the 2's are supposed to mean and they are the important part, but hey I only need to type in 100 different combinations and then I might get through the door.
Combination: _ _  1 4
Edit: Actually I only need to enter 10 different combos since both of those 2's are the same number (and Note). That's actually doable...
Edit2: I'm through the door! I feel a bit like I cheated though so I still want to figure those 2's out.
Edit3: The gun has a unique sound when fired so cool.

Hey,

Wow, thank you very much for this! But still I feel very stupid, about not being able to solve this myself :( I will try to use those keys, I will post the result! Thank you man!

I have tried the codes right now... It doesn't work! :S :( :/ Total nonsense... I think I will have to give up that...

wheres our mutagen music solver tool.

Almost ready. Just give me a bit more time.
Solver won't just give decoded text, it's supposed to help people understand and solve the puzzle.

If someone gave up and just wants the code, s/he can post e-mails to Mickey with relevant information here. I'll decode it.
Post text, not images. You can Ctrl+C ingame text.
Data looks like this:
Quote
::Mickey,

Here's your text:
A#A#GAEB G#AEEbD CEDEbA GEDEbA EEbBG#G F#EbCG#G#
G#AEG#G#G# GEEbC EbEGGEG G#

OK. I'll try my best to write a guide most people would understand.

Thanks for the table & guide, did help a lot.

Took the 3 starting numbers (240), made table, moved the table with interval keys (major second 2, minor second 1, perfect fifth 7), then used the moved table with the remaining numbers and text.

::Mickey

Interval key: major second, minor second, perfect fifth.

Octave keys:

Key 1: 240443022*44242215242*422424
Key *: 240232444*44223221224*240
Key *: 240243425*4242322242*442422434244
Key *: 240422324*40254432244*20::

::Mickey,

Here's your text:
F#FC#AEA AbFD#DBbBb EFC#D BbF#AbAED F#F#A
EC#DBABb AbFF#ABbC# BbEGF F#ABbBbEA
EBC#BbBbC DBbBbEAb C#BbAbABb GFBAbBb EFDAbC EF#AA
D#DBbC#G AbFD#B DC#FAbC# FAbFEF# D#A

And the door is open!

Good luck with the tool hilf, would be nice if this would take way less time :D

Hey,

I have to thank hilf for creating this tool. This will be my last post on this topic.
I hope you all will be able to solve it. Without or with tool doesn't matter the reward is the real thing. ;)

@epeli

Thank you for telling us how you see this "puzzle".

Thanks to ARedKangaroo for helping me with the puzzle.
