Uberspikes?
« on: May 14, 2013, 01:32:14 pm »
So, I just made a short test run in a basically finished game, to get the values I posted for Styg in the recent devlog thread.
I figured I'd try out some recipes, sold a bunch, bought a bunch, used Junkyard surprise a lot. Then I went to the Fixer, scrapper thugs attack me. I go there, hit one, he takes 270 damage and dies.
Turns out my Tungsten Armor spikes suddenly convey 219-379 bonus damage.
After killing both with my sledge, the bonus damage is now 259-449.
First person to give Styg Karma.

 :o

Are you telling me that the damage increased all by itself between the kills?

Might have something to do with degradation.

Could you mail me the save to admin et underrail dot com?

Yes, the damage raised after every hit, to unknown heights.
It was a walking nuclear meltdown.
Testing shows it seemed to be just actions, repairing certainly didn't reduce the damage.
What part of the save do you need?
Or just all of it?
It happens to be 22+ megs, which is larger than I can send with my mail provider.

Just export the character and send me that.

Same bug here. Crafted my tungsten steel armor adding more tunsten steel plates and 2 x tungsten steel spikes. After hitting some enemies here is the result:

And what I have already noticed that damage increases everytime my character moves and changes to focused status.
Also damage seems to increase after changing from the weapon in the left hand to weapon in the right hand.

Here is an image you can see increased damage:

Got the char export, but I didn't get around to looking into it yet. Will definitively be fixing this one.

I've got this with regular steel spikes as well. Made a low level suit with skill 15-17 spikes(1-3 damage each), damage kept going up, it's somewhere in the 200-600+ range now.

Much appreciated.
Though you specifically mentioning it has leaves the unnerving possibility that you might deliberately not fix a bug of that caliber.  :P

Fixed it. The bug was twofold actually and it only occurred when you had two items that give extra melee damage (armor + boots).

First, it stacked the damage even though it should function separately (one is unarmed only, the other is for any melee). And secondly, it stacked them on the armor item instead in temporary memory so as the time went on and the game had to recalculate your bonuses and stuff it kept stacking.

Enjoy your armors of doom until the patch. ;)

So, until the patch, if you attacked unarmed, it added the values from boots and armour?
Well, aside the nasty side effects, that was actually nice in circumventing damage resistance.
Which is one of the biggest weak points of unarmed.

It added the damage from the boots to the armor permanently.
