... after killing the Rathound King. Everyone knows the Rathound King is dead but the entire camp will still immediately turn hostile if they see you wear the Rathound Regalia. Even something as simple as "by the way I stole his clothes and you might see me wear his clothes, don't shoot" would suffice.

Half the camp has PTSD. The other half see’s it as a tremendous sign of disrespect since you are cosplaying as the man who killed their friends and family.

You've quite literally saved the entire camp twice over by dealing with the Burrowers and killing an extremely cunning wildman that actually killed their friends and family, surely they can forgive a little cosplay and not go guns blazing for what is essentially parading your enemy's remains (in reality the +10 carrying capacity).
