Metal Armor is an armor suit. All infobox examples on this article are crafted from Quality 50 components unless noted otherwise.
Description
The metal armor is the heaviest armor suit in Underrail. It has high resistances, equally massive armor penalty and weight. Metal armor suits, helmets and boots are the only types of armor to provide protection against Energy damage. All metal armor suits also provide Heat and Acid damage threshold.
Any metal armor suit can be worn without meeting its minimal strength requirement, but doing so will reduce your APs.
Crafting
Metal Armor can be crafted with Blueprint: Metal Armor.
Variants
Base material
Type and quality of metal plates used determines the main damage resistances/thresholds and base armor penalty of the armor suit. Steel armor is used as a basis of resistance comparison here. The numbers in brackets represent the modified armor penalty with the feat Armor Sloping.
Steel Armor — 8 minimal strength, 65(42)% armor penalty
- Increases Mechanical and Energy damage resistance/threshold
- +5 Heat and +5 Acid damage threshold
Tungsten Steel Armor — 9 minimal strength, 75(49)% armor penalty and higher resistances
- Increases Mechanical, Heat and Energy damage resistance/threshold
- +5 Heat and +5 Acid damage threshold
TiChrome Armor — 8 minimal strength, 50(32)% armor penalty, higher energy resistance, highest heat resistances, less mechanical resistance
- Increases Mechanical, Heat and Energy damage resistance/threshold
- +5 Heat and +5 Acid damage threshold
Super Steel Armor — 8 minimal strength, 45(29)% armor penalty, highest mechanical and energy resistances
- Increases Mechanical, Energy and Heat damage resistance/threshold
- +5 Heat and +5 Acid damage threshold
Carrier vest
No visual difference. Provides secondary bonuses to the armor suit.
- Biohazard <material> Armor — Increases Bio damage resistance/threshold
- Galvanic <material> Armor — Increases Electricity damage resistance/threshold, +5 to armor penalty
- Insulated <material> Armor — Increases Cold damage resistance/threshold
- Regenerative <material> Armor — Provides health regeneration when powered, +5 to armor penalty
- Sturdy <material> Armor — Increases health
Enhancements
Metal armor suits may have up to 3 enhancements.
/ / / Spiked <material> Armor — Deals extra damage in melee
/ / / Bladed <material> Armor — Causes Bleeding Wounds in melee
Reinforced — Further increases damage resistances/thresholds at the cost of extra armor penalty and weight. The numbers in brackets represent the modified armor penalty with the feat Armor Sloping.
- Per Steel Plate — +23(15)% to armor penalty, +2 to weight
- Per Tungsten Steel Plate — +26(17)% to armor penalty, +2.5 to weight
- Per TiChrome Bar — +18(11)% to armor penalty, +1.5 to weight
- Per Super Steel Plate — +16(10)%, +1.2 to weight
For example a super steel armor three times reinforced with super steel plates has an armor penalty of 92% or 59% with Armor Sloping and has a weight of 15.6.
