Goggles provide various bonuses to sight or ranged weaponry, depending on lens type used. Wearing goggles interferes with peripheral vision, decreasing dodge by 25%.
The optional night vision variant of goggles can be incredibly useful in the dark caverns of Underrail, where light is a luxury. They have no AP cost associated with them, allowing you to turn them on/off at will during combat. To turn them on - drag them to the action bar. Night vision greatly increases precision with all ranged weapons in dark areas by counteracting any darkness penalty.
Moreover, the night vision mode can be used to skip Perception checks. Especially good for low perception characters, but can be useful for anyone. Can not find an entrance to Phreak's hideout in Core City? Just turn on the night vision and pass by.
