Tactical Vest is an armor suit with low to medium armor penalty. It consists of a vest and a ballistic panel and can also use various optional overcoat fabrics. All tactical vests have 200% increased Mechanical damage threshold against firearms. An optional armor plate can be added to increase damage resistances, thresholds, weight and armor penalty.
Tactical vest is similar to Riot Gear, the main difference being an armor plate instead of a hand-held riot shield. Tactical vests also have lower base armor penalty, provide more protection against bullets but less against melee attacks. Compared to Leather Armor, it can provide additional benefits even at the same armor penalty, thanks to its versatile components.
Crafting
Tactical Vest can be crafted with Blueprint: Tactical Vest.
Variants
Carrier vest
Type and quality of carrier vest used determines secondary bonuses of the armor suit.
Biohazard Vest — Increases Bio damage resistance/threshold
Insulated Vest — Increases Cold damage resistance/threshold
Galvanic Vest — Increases Electricity damage resistance/threshold, +5 to armor penalty
Regenerative Vest — Provides health regeneration when powered, +5 to armor penalty
Sturdy Vest — Increases health
Ballistic panel
No visual difference. Type and quality of ballistic panel used determines the Mechanical damage resistance/threshold and base armor penalty of the armor suit.
- Reinforced Fabric — 10% armor penalty, provides both mechanical damage resistance/threshold
- Laminated Fabric — 15% armor penalty, lower mechanical resistance, but higher threshold
- Super Steel Sheet — 15% armor penalty, similar to laminated fabric, but also increases mechanical damage resistance/threshold against knife attacks
Armor plate
No visual difference. Optional armor plate gives additional bonuses at the cost of heavier armor penalty.
- Anti-rifle Vest — Further increases Mechanical damage threshold, +50 to armor penalty
- Burrower Vest — Further increases Mechanical damage threshold, increases Heat damage resistance/threshold, +35 to armor penalty
- Nanocomposite Vest — Reduces damage taken from critical attacks, +15 to armor penalty
- Psionic Vest — Decreases psi ability psi cost, increases psionic skills, +20 to armor penalty
Overcoat fabric
Optional overcoat fabric gives additional bonuses. Heavier fabrics also increase armor penalty.
Antithermic Overcoat — Increases Heat damage resistance/threshold, decreases Stealth
Black Overcoat — Increases Stealth
Blast Overcoat — Reduces damage taken from explosions, +15 to armor penalty
Kevlar Overcoat — Further increases Mechanical damage threshold against bullets, +10 to armor penalty
