Respawning

Most sub-human (Eg. Rathound) creatures will respawn within two hours of game time.

From experience they will not spawn on the same screen as the player, but will the second their respawn timer has passed and the player moves to a new screen.

Some human creatures won't respawn because this would break immersion of the storyline.
