Burrowers are one of the tougher creatures lurking in Underrail.
Description
They come in two main varieties, adult burrowers and burrower spawn.
Burrower
Adult burrowers. Real mean creatures. Tough carapace, dangerous attacks and ability to summon spawn.
They defend themselves by spitting poisonous thorns and they also lay eggs, which will burst into burrower spawn surprisingly quickly.
They may drop Burrower Poison Glands and Insectoid Salivariums as loot.
Spawn
Burrower spawn are smaller, young burrowers. Nowhere nearly as dangerous as fully-grown burrowers, but they tend to appear in groups.
They can only attack in melee, dealing mechanical damage, and their attacks aren't terribly damaging. They literally just bite your ankles.
They rarely drop Insectoid Salivariums as loot.
Hives
Burrowers seem to be territorial creatures and they form large hives filled with burrower eggs in suitable caverns.
If you encounter clusters of bright red eggs, beware. You have located a burrower hive, and burrowers are close by.
Such a hive can be first encountered in the GMS compound.
