There are two types of conventional explosive hand grenades:

- Fragmentation (frag) grenade which is used as an anti-personnel weapon.

- High-explosive grenade which is used against heavily armored targets.

The type of grenade created is dictated by its case, while its power depends on the combination of explosive fillings used.
