The Coil Spider is a creature introduced in version 0.1.12.0.

Description

Coil spiders are gigantic psionic spiders with electric powers. Their main attack is electrokinesis, which can jump to other coil spiders in the vicinity and charge them. If they run out of psi or are inhibited, they can use a melee attack that deals between 10-20 Mechanical and an additional 20-40 Electricity damage.

They like to make their lairs in or near abandoned labs and facilities, which are always filled with electric web traps that can stun their prey with electricity damage and leave them webbed.

Fighting tactics

High detection is really helpful, since getting caught in their electric web traps can be very dangerous. If you trigger a web trap, all nearby spiders will move in to investigate while you're stunned in the web and you will remain unable to move even after the initial stun passes.

Coil spiders aren't very sturdy creatures. Their health isn't very high, their evasion and dodge aren't especially high either and they only have a bit of mechanical resistance. They are, however, immune to immobilization; thus Bear Traps will not hold them in place.

Their stunning electricity attacks can be dangerous if they're not killed promptly. Electricity damage to them should be avoided at all costs, since it only charges them, making their own electrical attacks more powerful.

Stealth makes lone coil spiders easy targets for surprise attacks.
