Jack Quicksilver - When does he give his last quest?
« on: January 28, 2016, 03:20:18 pm »
I completed the 3 in core city and I'm supposed to get one more to meet azif.  I think that I completed the 3 optimally.  Is it just a time thing and I should revisit him after an hour, or is there another trigger?

You tell him line like this "I'm done with all of your tasks, what now?" and he will immediately give you next quest. He will also comment on your optimal performance.

Otherwise you are unworthy of learning his secrets ... unless you can complete "Hack the game" quest.

Allow me to scan your mind, son. Please don't move. The process isn't painful.

...

...

Ah, i think i've got something. You didn't choose diplomatic path when releasing prisoner from Foundry prison, is that correct?

#$%^&*(*&^%$%^&*(*&^%$ !!!!

Thanks Underrail for punishing me for trying something different for 2nd playthrough.

I guess, for some reason, stealthy no casualty way is not an optimal way here.

So anyway, what are the "optimal" solutions for each of Jack quests he gives in Core City and which are not?

Everard's assignment - Todor must be found innocent. Any other route is sub-optimal because it results in him being expended as an agent.

Meet Lenox Pierce - you must gather all of the evidence and figure out what caused Patrick's death; in general this means questioning everyone you can, examining all of the data on the terminal in the SGS mortuary, getting information about Patrick from Jon the Beautiful, and getting information on the Spectres from Oskar. Also as of the last patch it's a valid solution to kill the suspect after confronting him with the evidence, rather than having to identify the murder weapon etc with Lenox.

Meet Ohad Xander - get information from Jon, acquire a Hercules sample, have Pasquale analyse it, and then either give the data to Gene or upload it to the Trim network yourself using the terminal in the under-passages where all of the Motioners hang out.

--

It's almost always Everard's assignment that people mess up.

Strangely enough, I did everything required and didn't get the next quest. Are there any other checks for this that people know of?

EDIT: Used MichaelBurge's tool to figure out what went wrong.

SPOILER:Turns out some conversation options fuck up the optimal outcome, even if you use persuasion to back your way back out of them.

Since i'm very special person i did Everard's quest correctly but failed at murder quest. I can help with the latter and maybe i'll be able to help with the former too.

But first i need to know how far you guys are in MichaelBurge's guide. Can you do this step
Code: [Select]
Main.exe unpack < global.dat > unpacked.dat?

I'll assume you can.
First thing i did was resetting Jack & Abram flags in Core City which are:
'quest_meetAbramInCoreCityCompleted'
'npc_abram_talkToJackCoreCity'
'npc_jackQuicksilver_gaveFirstMissions'

It should make it possible to talk to Abram and then Jack in CC and get quests again. Next you need to reset a quest flags and final report flag:
'quest_watch_FoundryTrialStarted'
'quest_watch_FoundryTrialCompleted'
'npc_jackQuicksilver_finalReport'

Now you should search for any occurence of "FoundryTrial" and "todor" in the file. If you see something suspicious, that could ruin this quest, set it to 0. I didn't fail this quest so i can not help too much here. Some flags that could be relevant:
'npc_fo_chief_firstTalkTodor'
'npc_fo_delma_seeTodorOnce'
'npc_fo_todor_met'

Setting a flag to zero usually won't break anything so don't be shy (:

Very important thing is making Todor despawn. Game won't spawn an NPC again if it thinks it was already spawned. Search for 'fo_todor', it should be near the top of your file. Replace the thing with zeroes. It worked for me with Lenox Pierce, it will probably work with Todor as well.

Hope that helps.

How'd you do this and still complete the quest, anyway? Just skipped one of the steps? Or fingered the wrong person?

Ah, okay. I wondered whether it was possible to finger the correct suspect but fail to complete the quest optimally anyway due to missing some piece of the puzzle. Probably not, since I remember Lenox being really picky about me getting everything just right.
