This is stupid. It has to have been specifically scripted in because the zone is otherwise uncontrolled.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Follow Protectorate questline until you meet CAU near the Free Drones base
2. Kill them because you don't want to gas people
3. Fort Apogee telepathically knows you are to blame for their disappearance.

Bleh.


I've seen a number of topics about this - all without a proper answer. At least have the decency to say you are lazy. Why does a shitty serial killer's quest in foundry have *at least* 4 ways to finish it, but one of the main factions' quest can't even be abandoned?

The rule is that attacking a faction member will turn the entire faction hostile, regardless of all factors.

The exception is when a quest is involved, usually when one of the quest's solutions is for you to attack a member of the faction that gave you the quest itself.
