Looking for pointer on my plasma crit build.

I'm a complete noob at this game. After achieving some success with a psion build, I want to try my hand at a scientist build. Here is what I have so far.

The idea is that my primary damage would come from a plasma pistol with steadfast aim, high-technicalities, and crit goggles for some spicy, spicy crits (the current iteration already one shot almost everything with aimed shot, but dumped strength so no steadfast aim). 5 Stregth means I can also wear riot armor which should help a little bit with staying alive. For later I was thinking of grabbing opportunist and execute along with an electroshock pistol.

Gunslinger only works with classic (bullet-based) pistols.

I'm not convinced steadfast aim is worth it, because it's easy to get a high critical chance now with ambush. And while you can't set up ambush everywhere, with high intelligence crafting either mkiii plasma grenades or mkv frag grenades should not be a problem, for those few occasions.

I think that Gunslinger is only for firearms... Steadfast aim will only raise crit chance by 13% and you will shoot with plasma only twice per round. Electroshock will be more interesting but the benefit of Steadfast aim will be lower. It is more beneficial to go for Survival Instinct and the 30%.

This is for inspiration, it is to my mind the strongest build for crit scientist/energy pistol. The build is very fun to play as it can lockpick, hack, craft , steal, kill silently. it just cannot find very well hidden spots... You can customize it for chemical or light gun type.
You should not copy it but it may give you some ideas.

I didn't know that gunslinger only works for bullet weapons, I thought it would says something to the effect of Expertise's description, but oh well.

Why only 13%? I'm not certain on how the math works out, but a plasma pistol has a base crit chance of 5% and a base AP cost of 40, so shouldn't that be 15% bonus, up to a total of 20?

Obviously it's an older thread, imo energy weapons are quite good now.

unchkinomatic, thanks for correcting, it is 15%. 15% is very solid but the number of shots per round are very very low. Unless you plan to use sniper, i think that it is better either to go SI or Ambush. It will be more versatile if you combine another weapon with left APs.
