Linux to Win10 save game copy
« on: February 22, 2021, 05:00:53 pm »
Hi,

I recently started playing Underrail again on Linux (Pop!_OS) with Steam. But it's not running very smooth at times, so I wanted to continue on Windows.
Did a clean install of Underrail on Windows also via Steam and copied my save games to ...\Documents\My Games\Underrail

Game version is identical; 1.1.2.4 with Expedition dlc.
All Saves are visible from the Load Game menu with screenshot, timestamp, version etc. but when I try to load one I get: Error : Failed to load the save game.

Even went so far to copy the entire Underrail game folder as a test from Linux to Windows (because afterall it's emulating windows within linux with folder structure and everything) without running steam altogether, same result, game runs fine, save games won't load. I can start a new game, I can save/load new games just fine.

Hope someone can help.

Thanks!

Seems that the game was running on FNA during its time on Linux and the persisted FNA structures cannot be deserialized into XNA types.

I'm afraid you're out of luck.
