What constitutes a "ranged weapon special attack damage"

I can't find a wiki article about this. Does it include knife throws and grenades? What about spear throws?

"Special attacks" are attacks with cooldowns.  Aimed shot, kneecap shot, snipe, etc; not sure about ones from items like quick draw, but not burst or other attacks that you can use over and over again whenever you want.
