Expedition Aegis/Pirates bug
« on: June 20, 2023, 05:43:29 am »
I gave the technician's floatie-talkie to Marcus, opened the Arch Keep and joined the pirates just before talking with Chief Briggs about failed Cruzer's attack, but didn't accept any of the Captain Grim tasks (did one for Razor, though, and learned naval combat), and returned back to complete the remaining quests for Aegis. The jet was stolen without anyone noticing, but Aegis became suspicious and refuse to reply via NavCom, though are still friendly if meet in person. After completing all their quests, the Expedition leaves and there are no jet ski patrols anymore; but if speak to Grim again he will claim there still are, and give task to hunt down Aegis, which can't be completed.

If provoke Expedition before they leave by accepting Grim task to kill the patrols, dead Cruzer dialogs will be present in further pirate quests, he'll be labeled as "Unknown".

Exact steps:

1. Join the Expedition, pickpocket the comm device from the technician
2. Complete Recover RFID microchip and open Arch keep
3. Pickpocket Aegis patroller keys from sec-troopers or use a hotwiring kit
4. Plant a C4 charge while in stealth in the north-east corner of the dock to distract everyone
5. Board a patroller (except two near the turret, being seen by the turret turns everyone hostile)
6. Initiate combat to avoid being seen on the stolen jet and exit the area to the south.
7. Go to Razor and meet Captain Grim.

Aegis will become hostile when Grim says "Let's talk business", but you can interrupt this dialogue. There are several options, for example:
- initiating combat manually before the dialogue window opens;
- saving and loading the game before the dialogue window opens;
- waiting for parasitic infestation to expire;
If all else fails, continue with the dialogue and load the newly generated "cp_expedition_JoinedPirates" save file. Then just leave the area.

Return to the Expedition camp and reveal the spy / get jet ski key from Briggs (pirates won't turn hostile anymore), and complete other quests. You can visit Katya, trade with Calamity, Donnie, learn improved naval combat from Razor, etc.

You will not get rewards for beach invasions if don't respond or threaten troops when they call you through NavCom.

Moving auto turret here will fix this and make stealing the jet impossible without provoking Aegis

I made it so the sec-trooper can't be lured away like that anymore. It was never intended for the player to steal the patroller without provoking hostilities with Aegis.

Are you guys sure there's no better solution? It's a fun start to the expedition to distract guards with a grenade and grab parts from the other jets and upgrade your junk jet a little. In fact it's probably very common player behavior (at levels above newbie)
