Tchort
Tchort is a mysterious creature worshipped by the Tchortists. It is located somewhere in the Deep Caverns.
Description
Tchort has been described as giant and formless creature, resembling a mass of flesh with tentacles. It possess great telepathic powers, being able to communicate with other beings and exert its mental influence on others. However, the only human who is allowed to come close to it and speak with Tchort is Eidein, the person who have discovered it. Tchort can be defined as a large multicellular organism of unknown age, sharing similarities in its genetic make-up with all living organisms but at the same time, not being directly related to humans. The creature can enter a state of unique type of regeneration cycles in which it loses any recognizable form and undergoes genetic self-repair. It does so in order to adapt to the drastic changes in its surrounding environment and to obtain new traits necessary for survival. It has been found out that the non-coding genome of Tchort actually serves as a genetic back-up and allows it to create and rebuild completely new genetic sequences. These "junk" non-coding DNA has been promptly called "Tchort genes" and have been discovered in certain amount in all beings, being responsible for evolution.
Using the data obtained from studying Tchort's body, Eidein was able to apply the research to his own genome, prolonging his own lifespan. Tchortists hope that one day through study of Tchort, humans wil be able to evolve and walk the surface again.
Tchort is currently in the regeneration process and as a result, it is very vulnerable and incapable of moving. Because of it, Tchortists have created an outpost in the Deep Caverns, serving as a line of defense against anyone who would wish to harm Tchort.

In reality, Tchort is not a primordial formless creature but a massive mutated organism created as a result of merging several Biocorp scientists who have been thrown into the mutagen tanks by their own test subjects who rebelled against them. Powerful mutagens inside the tanks caused drastic changes to the bodies, causing them to merge and create a single powerful being capable of absorbing other beings and possessing great mental powers. Through the last century, Eidein was feeding the Tchort with various people and creatures with rare genetic material, which it absorbed, obtaining various new abilities. In a dialogue interaction with Old Jonas it is revealed that in his trip to the Deep Caverns he encountered an unspeakable monster within the mutagen tanks. That makes him one of the few people besides Eidein who have actually saw the Tchort in its real form. The mental trauma caused by this event caused him to forget what he saw down there. Another character, Leo, also possibly saw Tchort, as he spoke about something horrifying deep inside the Nucleus. The evil pressure on his mind caused Leo to forget his past and become insane. With the plot progress of the game, player will be forced to confront Tchort and destroy it in order to escape from Deep Caverns. |
