Builds / Re: Rate MY Build
« on: October 24, 2020, 02:39:48 pm »
Yes, this will function very well... once everything is in place and you have crafted everything you need together with the house crafting bonuses and the +2 Int pill. Which means completing parts of the game during the lower levels.

I think this build will have an incredibly uneven progression. There won't be enough points to go around to provide decent reward from crafting in the mid-game levels and it seems like it will be quite thinly spread. This is mostly for the levels between 10 and 20. This build will not function well, in my opinion, on Oddity, but I am guessing you didn't plan to play that anyways as you're showing a lvl 30 build.

Also, are you planning on playing on Legacy branch... because if not you will also have to deal with the after-effects of the ''Psi Haste'', so to speak.

Oh, wow. I love it :D

Really, though, I wouldn't have mind one bit if the game still looked like that.

It's nice to have such tools, although I don't think I can work with it at all.

Using just stock Excel with Windows 10.

General / Something you wish was different or added to the game?

This is about stuff you think would be cool if it was in the game. It's not about complaining, ect. Just sharing your neat, impossible concepts. I am sure there are things people wished were in.

I'll start.

I wish there was a viable way to play as a mutant. Once you mutate the core gameplay changes as the ordinary inhabitants of Underrail no longer accept you and the player has to search for ways to adapt. For example, Wyatt can start trading with you - offering scavenged Junkyard stuff. The mutie community at the island refuge can become a new players hub and the thing in the cursed hospital can become a psionic mentor to the PC(the price is killing it, so you will have only a few choices before you do it.)

The player will lose, however, access to most of the vendours in the game; maybe they will still accept him/her at SGS as Tanner wouldn't throw away a willing puppet, but perhaps some of the other inhabitants will have something to say leading to interesting situations. Oculus seems like a place that will always welcome the PC as they have an affected of their own already.

PC could change to different types of mutants - for example if they had a dominant Str value they would gain natural abilities based on that. There could be psionic, smart, sneaky, ect., mutants.

Even though we're mostly used to mutants being mostly savage, lore-wise we've seen several cases of exceptional mutations. PC could be one of those.

It does work with bursts, actually.

Can you even beat the game with traps only? lul

You need something to trigger your traps in a couple of places. Zero-skill grenades will do fine, though. Other than that transgression, traps-only playthrough is possible at least on lower difficulties.

That actually makes me wonder... for a... ''pacifist'' playthrough, how many things do you have to kill? Three, four or five?

From the top of my head - forego Psi. The extra Will plus a point or two of Int will have to go to Strength. Weaponsmith for Impale, Premeditation for Spear Block, Hypertoxicity for Armour Sloping.

Personally I'd say yes.

You'd need more Strength and a few other Feats if you'd want to use a spear effectively.

You're much better off with going a single Psi discipline now.

You can go multi, but for the first half of the game you might find it a bit too slow as you have to swap skills and drink mana potions :).

edit: HulkOSaurus thoughts on shotgun feats + sniper over xbow and sniper? using that on the sniper build atm since I needed something w/o a move and shoot penatly

Shotguns don't require as much investment as xbows do. With only Sixth Shell and Leading shot those become a solid choice against a lot of the enemies in the game. Leaning towards Tactical single fire shotties, personally.

Focus on either Metathermics or Temporal Manipulation. Personally leaning towards Metathermics. It will open some feats options like Quick Tinkering. The rest is more points where ever you like them.

I find them a bit invariable. Both don't have Throwing which takes away quite a bit. Killing enemies with Psi or bullets alone is a slog for the first half of the game.

I've always been a huge fan of hybrids. Now more than ever there's a point of mixing combat styles with Psi.

I'd trade a heavy investment into Lockpicking for a bit of Pickpocketing in a heartbeat. Hacking, for that matter, as well. It's a fairly late game skill as it's benefits are sporadic at best. Traps doesn't require too heavy an investment into. One Psi discipline is fine when in doubt. Mercantile helps a ton.

A lot of builds can do exactly that. It comes down to how you play it. Some of us have been playing this game for years and we know where those stealthy snipers are.

But here's the build I played the game with last. I died less than 5 times for the entire playthrough.

You can easily adapt for the new Psi changes.

You don't have to max Evasion. But more of it is always welcomed.
