Out of Context Dialogue: Thread
« on: May 16, 2024, 03:14:52 pm »
Sometimes, some dialogue that appears may be out of the game's story context. Here's a thread to compile them for reference.

Spoiler warning: Read at your own risk.

[1] I recall that Gene only mentions the news about Edmund Knight AFTER certain Oligarch quests have been finished, and that Gunnar says that the news about Edmund Knight has not yet gone public before giving the player the task of seeking out the Acid Hunters. I believe the news only goes public AFTER the research facility events have concluded.

[2] Arlene mentions that Gorsky's gathering up his squad even after Gorsky has departed to Core City.
After Lenox's Questline is completed, she still mentions the rumor that Mordre's been acquiring cigars.

Lenox promises to talk to Tanner after his quest has been completed even if Tanner left SGS.

Blaine intimidation option ("cleared this with Tanner and Gorsky") appears even if Tanner left SGS and Gorsky died in Core city.

Never heard of this one; what brings it about?

This option appears if "Find Blaine (Black Eels)" is active and you didn't mention Black Eels or Silas when asking him.

If you complete the main storyline without accepting any of Tanner's quests after finding the drill parts, your character still can mention that "The tasks Tanner gave me were all somehow connected to the mysterious object which was stolen from the Faceless". You probably should tell a slightly different story in this case.

If you have already found Terry Baker's keycard and returned Lora without taking the missing merchants quest, then talked to Vera and others, some dialogue options about them will appear with Rail Crossing and Core City characters. It is probably the same if Lora died in DC or left with Faceless (you know her fate anyway at this point). There's also no option to return the keycard to her or give it to Vera.

One out-of-context thing that always bugs me is that after (properly) resolving Lenox's quest Arlene continues to talk about Mordre and his cigars as if nothing happened. While it's only a part of a larger issue of nobody in SGS reacting to the truth about Mordre, at least it's trivially fixable.
