So..now it very bad for some reasons:
1. Low damage. 10-15 damage (30-45 by 3 spike) with 140-150 quality. Any enemies with high dt just ignored this.
2. High required crafting skills. In early/mid game get spike with more quality than metal plate is very easy.
3. High armor penalty (9 AP by 3 steel/tichrome spike).
Suggest:
1. Add 3-5 damage per 1 spike. Also spike can get some bonus again living targets (ignored some % dt or increase damage after dt/resistence by %)
2. Reduced required crafting skills to 70% * Quality (now according by wiki is 80%)
3. Add reduce AP by 1% (0.5 for each specialization point) spike to Armor Sloping.
