General / Re: Al Fabet
« on: February 21, 2016, 01:11:03 am »
Elhazzared, dude, it seems you've been into this game for a time now. surely you understand there's more to it than collecting loot and selling it to merchants for shiny coins.

Perhaps to you this isn't an important part of the game and as I said rpeviously, this will just make players not want to go explore and do side quests. Basicly, they will ignore a large part of the game because what is the point? You can't sell it anyway!

I have no doubts some player are that obsessed with looting, but they aren't in the majority. But "the most important thing in an RPG"? Really? What about such things as lore, quest lines, character development, NPC interactions, puzzles, enemy encounters?

If I wanted to play a game with a heavy focus on buying & selling, I'd rather play Monopoly with friends.

Personally, I can say I am a pack rat too. Yes, I took every single item I could in the office of Sellus Gravius in Seyda Neen, Morrowind (I actually made a point of collecting entire armor sets and displaying them in mod houses. Also, complete sets of weapons in specific materials, and crockery). Yes, I robbed the people of Neverwinter blind. Those golden pantaloons in Baldur's Gate 1? I held onto them until Throne of Bhaal (expansion to BG2), despite not knowing what use they were to me (and oh my god, was it worth it in the end!). I am currently busy finding every single rag in the Hive in Sigil (PS:T). No piece of cheese, no wooden fork is safe from me in Skyrim. Arcanum was fun too, though I don't exactly remember how I handled the inventory in there.

But at the end of the day, I can live with leaving stuff behind when I realise "Meh, it's not really that important" - the plot is important, and at the end I am swimming in gold anyway, even in the Underrail. I still take everything with me, even if I have to go multiple times, and contrary to what some here say, I still explore - a lot. I am a completionist, and a hurdle to packratting is not going to stop me from finding everything in here (after playing Morrowind for 1 week, I knew more about the game, setting and community than the friend who had recommended it to me. And he had been playing it for 2 years.) It is fun in a way, and I get to memorise the paths way better by going along them several times.

The only system that ever really annoyed me was the one in Neverwinter Nights, where you had a combination of weight (which was okay) and Tetris. You had different sized items, which had to fit into luggage tabs of a specific size. This could get annoying, as when you have lots of stuff, you might find a large sized item (3x2 squares), and while you have lots of space (20 squares), they could be scattered all across your inventory due to bad automatic Tetrissing (it filled the tabs from bottom left to top right, going horizontally) when picking up stuff. It was unnecessary, and weight alone would have been enough. Underrail is pretty chill compared to that. But I still continued and finished NWN, and am still a big fan of all those mods.

So, Ehazzared while I can understand you on one hand, I at the same time have to pity you a bit, as you seem too focussed on this mechanic and making money. But to each their own.

By the way, I think using stashes (something that was not always an option in those older games I mentioned) is a good way of making me reconsider what I really need - that way I also know what I can safely sell off, and specialise my character (something I am notoriously bad at, sometimes. I always play a rogue, for example, because I have to open those doooooors!) concerning their fighting style.

When I saw Al Fabet? I laughed, because I recognised my habits in him too. :)

I second this suggestion. For a while I didn't realise Rail Crossing had a medical trader, because I didn't realise there was a door there. And that one is one of the easier ones.

My boyfriend also has big troubles finding doors. He really likes the game, but he gets frustrated again and again by it, because he often can't find the doors, especially in areas that have more complex wall designs, but with damages. The current one is the institute of Tchort west wing - he was stuck because he couldn't find one of the doors.  :(

This really is something that should be adressed in order to prevent headaches among players.

Bugs / Can't start Abrams quest (in Junkyard)
« on: February 06, 2016, 09:59:58 pm »
So, we wanted to start Abrams quests in Junkyard, after having put them off for quite some time (having finished Gorskys protectorate shield quest; Now wanting to go and blow up the Protectorate Elevator for the Free Drones), Abram doesn't have any option but "End Dialogue" now.

Possibly this is the same issue that had been there with some other characters before? That saying you will come back to their proposition removes all dialogue options the next time you adress them?

:)

Bugs / Kevin's Shop won't show up (Foundry)
« on: February 03, 2016, 08:33:37 pm »
Hey there!

I am reporting a bug on account of my boyfriend.

So, he has done the foundry beast quest, and done all conversation topics with Dan. However, he still cannot access Kevin's shop.

I know that I never had trouble with this myself, but I always got access to the shop before even properly starting on that quest (I usually explore an area fully before doing any real quests). So maybe it has something to do with only doing this after the Beast quest? My boyfriend tells me he only did all the dialogue points after the quest - before that he only asked Dan to accompany him to fight the beast.

So, maybe someone could look into that. :)

Bugs / Re: Mysterious Lady gone?
« on: January 08, 2016, 04:22:03 pm »
Any comment on this? Just want to know if this is normal, or a bug (and thus giving hope it will be fixed). This has taken the wind from my sails when it comes to playing Underrail right now. :(

Bugs / Mysterious Lady gone?
« on: January 05, 2016, 04:40:52 pm »
I am not sure if this is a bug, but it appears the mysterious lady has vanished. I had told her that I had to think about it, and coming back after a (long) while, as I remembered I had forgotten to talk to her again, she is gone! She had talked to me in Core City.  :'(

I have just completed the main JKK plotline in Core City.

7
I just got the house from JKK, and when I selected "That is superb! But let me ask you something else before I leave" when Ola tells me the details, the conversation topics change to the topics he had in the sewers during the warehouse mission, complete with the closing dialogue of that thread, with "Me, fail? *laugh*", and him telling you to watch out for Vivian.

It's not a gamebreaker. Once the dialogue closes and you talk to him again, it's just the barter and exit option there.

General / Re: Rathound king question [SPOILERS]
« on: January 04, 2016, 01:52:57 am »
Ok so I made it to his lair and he wants me to kidnap Sarine. Has anyone done it without having to actually butcher the entire camp? That makes the mission very unappealing to me, as I practically lose the town in the process.

Yo bud,

Probably the best ending I have for this is the truce option. But it requires really high persuasion. If you manage to get the Rathound king to see your view and propose a truce, Edgar will likely agree to it as well.

Order of events on my playthrough were:
- Meet Rathound king (Truce proposed)
- Meet Edgar (Truce proposed after Burrow Job completed) (Edgar somehow trusts you after you complete the task)
- Return to Rathound King with Edgar Proposal
- Rathound King accepts proposal and gives you a Rathound Regalia (The item makes any nearby rathounds instantly allied to you)
- Return to Edgar and speak to him about the Rathound King accepting the proposal (4000XP + Hunter feat)

Best outcome so far.

Little note about the Rathound Regalia, you should probably not wear it when going into Camp Hathor. I did that and got attacked, and as far as I could tell,  didn't do anything else to earn their anger (it happened in their mindshroom patch).  :P

Puncher, I didn't get drugged by the murder lady due to playing a lady myself. I broke into her dungeon, played underrail on her laptop and overwrote her level 23 savegames. *MWUAHAHAHAHAHA* (Kidding, obviously).

I usually do the fishing as I go along. I see a body of water, I do some fishing. Not for too long, and usually only for a few catches. That way I got all but those three pretty fast, and some extras for chemicals.

I like to do as many quests as I can find. I remember playing Morrowind for the first time. Within two weeks I knew more about the game and the setting than the friend who had recommended it to me who had been playing it for two years. All that simply by exploring and reading the books.

The best Fallout-like game since 1999 has an extensive and powerful drug crafting system which relies on some components that can ONLY be found by fishing, just FYI.

Anyway, the Demon Squid and Phantom Jelly can be found in the various caves that open up after you return the drill part. Just explore the caves you access with TNT and keep fishing, you'll find them. The Ghostface, it seems, can only be found much later in the game, in the Deep Caverns.

A toast to you for distributing that punch. ;D

Thanks for the tips. I now have caught a demon squid in one of the less likely places...the sewers of core city. I'm not going to eat that one. :P

General / Southern Fishing Tour - Demon Squid, Ghostface, Phantom Jelly
« on: January 02, 2016, 12:54:34 pm »
Okay, so I am doing the Southern Fishing tour, and these Cnidarians and this Cephalopod keep eluding me.

Any suggestions where they are more likely to be caught?

Bugs / Not sure if bug: Mysterious Pillars/Bilocation requirement
« on: December 27, 2015, 09:40:27 pm »
Okay, I am not sure if this is a bug, or if it was simply changed.

I am on silent isle, and have a Will of 8. I recall that last time that I was able to get Bilocation the last time I played just before the release, but now I get attacked by the Doppelg

Bugs / Boat to Silent Isle Bug
« on: December 20, 2015, 04:51:34 pm »
I am currently busy with the Silent Isle quest, and finding I wasn't ready yet, I went back to Junkyard. Now I no longer have the option to travel back to silent isle, I only get the option to travel to SGS.

Development Log / Re: Dev Log #45: Game Released

Congratulations!

I already got a copy for my boyfriend, so he can play it too. He saw me playing for days before the beta started, and he was quite interested. Now we can both enjoy it. ^_^

Bugs / Re: Bugs in Hanging Rat (EDIT: Some extras)
« on: November 26, 2015, 10:15:46 am »
Some more:

Computer console oculus:

Security level 2:
Old Biocorp entry:

"They've build" - should be "Built"

"It is unknown whether whether"

"Question of immoral experimentation" - *Questions

Hecate Research Outpost, level 2:

Keep getting zapped navigating around the three squares marked when the power is on (not touching the actual electrified square).

Level 1: Can't use the "Personal Laptop", I click on it, nothing happens at all- intentional?
Console says it doesn't have power, despite the generator having been rebooted. Might be because I haven't started the

quest yet, and came here while exploring. Mentioning it just in case.

Items:

Napalm C - "This is powerful military grade incendiary substance.". I think you need an "a" in there.

Same goes for the Incendiary Grenade using the Napalm C.

Core City Station:

Mysterious Lady: Same thing as with Azif, when I say "I have to think about this", and try and talk to her again, I only

get an empty dialogue with her. Maybe check all the decision dialogues?

Bugs / Bugs in Hanging Rat
« on: November 24, 2015, 04:16:07 pm »
Small problem in Hanging rat:

After having talked to Azif, telling him I had to think about it, I talked to Rude Rob and the Patron. Now when I click on Azif, I just get an empty dialogue for the Patron. (Yes, I got that right).

I also checked if I can still talk to Azif if I don't talk to the others, and found it only opens an empty dialogue for "Unknown".
