General / Re: Bleed based unarmed build viable for dominating?
« on: January 19, 2018, 04:11:06 pm »
Is there a typical "bleed" build out there ?

I'd say there are multiple ways...

You must first ask yourself if you'll use fist weapons (since you plan to the claw) or knives (for eviscerate) [EDIT : sorry i didn't read you post title properly, but maybe you were considering eviscerate ? It seems to be the utlimate bleeding skill].

Using both seems cool but maybe hard to optimize (lots of different feats to take., also knives require 5 will for ripper).

I'm pretty sure you can get your build viable for dominating in any case.

With fist weapons you'll basically want lightning punches, cheap shots and taste for blood asap, then expose weakness, vile weaponry and probably combo.

One thing to consider though is whether or not you'll take quick tinkering and grenadier, and when.

Those are extremely powerful feats for dominating, especially early on, but they will delay greatly the core of you build if you take them at lvl 4 and 6... (that matters only if you play oddity though)

Suggestions / Re: Poison knife (as an enhancement)

Thanks for you answer :)

I personnaly don't think that there is a problem with stacking dots though, also in my opinion it wouldn't cause any balance problem because :

- it'd work as a replacement for shock generator, so you'd lose a bunch of electricity immediate damage if you'd chose poison instead of shock knife (making it useless against robot by the way);

- there would be a limited number of poison charges per knife, and maybe you'd be unable to reload it during combat.

Ah, the forum software is a buggy piece of junk. It cuts posts off at special characters like accent marks (I'm guessing you were trying to use one there in place of normal apostrophe). Try to avoid any fancy special characters and things'll work.

Thanks ! Maybe because my keyboard is azerty so...

I was just trying to say that bleeding gloves could be useful, apart for taste for blood and vile weaponry which are already great, if you stun or incapacitate the target. Then you can stop punching it and let it bleed to death.

Suggestions / Poison knife (as an enhancement)
« on: January 18, 2018, 11:57:18 am »
I think knives are too limited in options compared to fist weapons.

Also the "toxicity" feat have too limited uses.

What i suggest : an enhancement available for knives (as a option to choose between this and shock generator) that makes them able to poison the target when hit.

Similar to shock generator, you recharge your knife with a poison flask.  Then the next 5 hits (or any number) will inflict set poison if the blow goes through armor.

That would make "toxicity" characters a lot more viable (and fun) and give knives a little bit more of CC with crawler poison.

Maybe it has already been proposed and refused, sorry in that case.

Currently playing a knife build on dominating without expose weakness, not missing it too much (i feel weak, but not really for that reason).

Bladelings especially were a non issue, you just have to fight them once and you can prepare like hell for that fight. Also with a 4turn cooldown, expose weakness wouldn't help much against this horde...

Sentries and heavy armored guys are a bigger threat imo.Don't know if that justifies picking expose weakness for a sledge build though.

Cant't wait for the expansion, it looks so cool...  Is it for any time soon ?

By the way, what's with the 21-24 (kg?) weight for machete and spear !?

Will that be fixed ?

2. Stealth threshold for Ambush feat:
- 150: +65% crit chance, with good Seekers and Focus Stim we will cap,
- 200: +80% crit chance, we will cap with either Stim or Seekers, this is our target value,
- 250: +95% crit chance, possible with stealth gear and probably with very best combat gear crafted with DC components.
Recklessness is worth about 23 stealth. With this feat we will cap crit chance with best pre-DC combat gear.

Is ambush scaling with effective stealth or with "stealth skill points" like the description suggest ?

I thought it was the latest.

EDIT : After some testing it seems to take into account the effective skill as you said.

I hadn't invested in tailoring(only 10 for grenades) so I had 2 sets of armor: Biohazard Suit+Boots(very useful in DC, obviously, even with such severe penalties) and... Rathound Regalia+Ninja Tabi Boots, cuz it's best "stealth" armor in my case(no tailoring, no Nimble feat), no guns/crossbows users in DC(which can oneshot you) and most enemies can be skipped; all available heavy armors(Metal/Riot) just lol for DC.

P.S. Also in DC I have found 160 quality Laser Emitter and mb it's static.

Thank you very much, i'm amazed you did'nt even use tailoring !

Thanks for the good feedback Mindless, gratz for beating the game :) !

I considered paranoia but i usually start combat myself, and i mostly deal with crawlers using stealth, bear traps and molotovs, dont'know about stealth lunatic yet though...

I skipped sprint to spare me 6 agi, but it surely would have been great otherwise for my build.

I'm not so sure about practical physicist versus high technicalites. If i take 8 int (which is also good for a lot of bonus skill points), thats +24 % base damage, which seems betters than +25% critical damage bonus (62.5 with critical power) if you get more than  ~160 critical damage bonus (i didn't do the maths properly). Both would be even better of course :)

Also can i ask what was you final set of armor ?

Hi guys,

I'm loving this difficulty, it really makes replaying the game worthwhile.

Doing okay-ish so far with my little chemist build, just defeated the beast at lvl 15, using 25 bear traps, 10 frag mark IV and two gas grenade. The "cooked shot" ability with acid chemical pistol also proved very useful in this fight. In general it allows a lot of crowd control, very good new feat.

The win was anticlimatic though because i had an "error : zone transitition failed" after that. It worked after reloading though.

Balor himself wasn't really hard, but i had to dipose of his lads separately first.

More precisely my build at lvl 15 is :

S3/D10/A3/C4/P10/W3/I7

opportunist
pack rathound (feels mandatory considering how much bear traps and mines i'm using, and i don't use cheat engine)
aimed shot
quick tinkering (mandatory for my build)
grenadier (extremely useful for frags and incendiaries)
cooked shot (super good with the buff to chemical pistols)
mad chemist
execute
ambush (not sure it's a wise choice so far, but i like the idea, and it pairs well with incendiaries)

I'm hesitating a lot for the last 5 feats, i'm currently considering :

- three pointer, point shot, sharpshooter, critical power and fatal throw ;

or

- sharpshooter, critical power, high technicalities (with +1 int at lvl 16), pratical physicist and point shot or power management : so it'd be a hybrid chemical/laser pistol build, which seems fun considering that setting ennemies on fire with incendiary pistol can help triggering ambush.

I'm planning to pump dext to 14 (makes chemical ap 18 and laser pistol 10), then i don't know for the last two remaing points : perception, int with high technicalities, con or even agility all seem good options.

In any case i fear deep cavern will give me a hard time, i'll probably try to max stealth to avoid most fights...
