Bugs / Steamdeck - saves fail to load

Hi,

I started to play on steamdeck a month ago, before release of heavy duty.

It worked well (occasionnal fail to save but a restart of steamdeck always fixed it).

I managed to install and finish Heavy Duty with same character.

After that i loaded an old save (wanted to try dlc with that character), played a bit, saved the game.

Now i have an error : "failed to load save game, Error : Unable to resolve data element type: Microsoft, Xna,Framework, Input, Keys" when trying to load that new save AND the old ones (which used to work fine).

Saves won't load both on PC and steamdeck (i had synchronization activated).

Suggestions / A rework of smoke bombs ?

Hi guys,

I recently played the excellent Jupiter Hell game and it has an interesting way of using smoke grenades : it creates a field in which you can move freely but it breaks line of sight for a duration, unless you're really close to the target.

I thought it could work well for underrail too (and i don't really like the current smoke bomb mechanic which doesn't feell realistic to me).

Unless i had very odd rolls doing an hour of save scum shotgun shooting, it seems those two don't benefit from each others.

Builds / Optimising Shotgun build /discussing shotgun feats

Hello everyone,

I have to pick a lvl 18 feat and would like to hear your opinions on shotgun feats, or any advice in general :) .

It seems to me that leading shot and sixth shell are by far the best shotgun feats (especially sixth shell after the last patch), then fragmented chaos is good for 3p and 6p (but somewhat useless for 12p and 20p).

However :

- perfect scattering : if i understand it well, it works like expertise in the sense that damage per pellet is added AFTER all modifiers, which makes it overall only a bit useful with 4 shot 20p burst. However i don't use burst and against tough foes i mainly use 6p shells, and for those at best it would do 12 damage per 20 ap, which seems not worth a feat slot ;

- pellet mayhem : probably worth it overrall against swarms, but not a game changer ;

- barrel stare : can't combine with leading shot. Maybe worth it against low evasion foes though, or for a nice Taser combo (even better with opportunist in that case, might be great against really tough foes like Nagas).

- critical power : after a few tests, it seems it doesn't take into account the critical damage offered by fragmented chaos. So it's probably decent even for just the +30% crit damage with vindicator, but useless with shotguns having only 100% crit damage  (vindicator seems to be the most powerful non combat shotgun anyway, even without considering the 120% critical bonus...). Decent but not mandatory

 Basically at that point i'm wondering if it's worth it to invest more in shotgun feats for minimal damage boost, or if instead i'd be better off picking defensive feats (last stand, fast metabolism, conditionning...), utility feats (nimble, trigger happy, pack rat), or even getting aimed shot for a sniper shot here and there and ammo conservation...

Well i'm pretty sure all options are viable in the end, just wanted to hear your opinions :)

Is it working as intended ? Description led me to think it was multiplicative.

General / Ending combat mod

Hello everyone,

A simple question : what are the exact conditions for ennemies to enter/not enter combat (allowing you to end it) when you kill one (or more) ?

So far to me it seems that for not triggering other ennemies combat mode :

- you must not be in line of sight of any other ennemy (obvious) ;

- ennemy being killed must not be in line of sight of any other (not super sure about it).

Am i right or missing something ?


And by the way is there any way to restealth and end combat mode by not being seen by the ennemy for a set number of turn (not incapacitating them) ?

Suggestions / Poison knife (as an enhancement)

I think knives are too limited in options compared to fist weapons.

Also the "toxicity" feat have too limited uses.

What i suggest : an enhancement available for knives (as a option to choose between this and shock generator) that makes them able to poison the target when hit.

Similar to shock generator, you recharge your knife with a poison flask.  Then the next 5 hits (or any number) will inflict set poison if the blow goes through armor.

That would make "toxicity" characters a lot more viable (and fun) and give knives a little bit more of CC with crawler poison.

Maybe it has already been proposed and refused, sorry in that case.
