All robots become Short Circuited upon being hit with any source of electricity damage. It's pretty much the robotic equivalent to organic targets' stun.
Robots reboot in Safe Mode after their short circuiting is over, providing temporary short circuit immunity.
EMP weaponry will cause longer short circuiting (2 turns).
