General / Strange Markings...
« on: February 19, 2017, 08:08:51 pm »
Anyone care to reveal to me what the heck this is??????
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=867892527

Could've sworn that it wasn't there until one of these recent patches, unless I'm growing senile..!
Already dumped a slab of TNT on it, Mk. 3 Hand Grenade etc. and nothing to it.

HOLY MOTHERF*CKING SH*T!!!!!
DOMINATING! :o
http://steamcommunity.com/games/250520/announcements/detail/601620085231613598

... and here I thought it was just gonna be a few areas being 'opened up' along with some additional 'paths' :P
Hell even thought if they were gonna do some kind of major upgrade for the styg-engine(?).

Still didn't expect a fully-fleshed out expansion/piece of DLC, can't wait to get my filthy hands on it..!

So I've made it 'back' to that point in the game on my sledgehammer character and it would actually appear that when the 3rd 'unique' dialog becomes available when you get to ask him if he's been assign to deal with the bladelings/psimorphs.
From the looks of it you need to have completed both tasks Gorsky gives you in Core city BUT not have Gorsky go to the tunneler until you can have Gorsky tell the story about himself, Dan and the black crawlers back in the day.
Again in order for your character to 'recognize' that Dan is talking about the incident with the black crawlers in which Gorsky was involved, you need Gorsky to bring up the black crawlers which he will once you've done his two tasks and THEN go to Dan and 'trigger' that 3rd bit of unique dialog.
It's actually surprising how 'complicated' this is then again I don't know if there might be a bug or this is indeed intended for the hell of it.

Simply put:
Complete Gorsky's 2 tasks > Go to Dan and have him talk about his own past (safest thing is not to talk to him at all until you've done Gorsky's tasks and have him mention the black crawlers) > Dan will be happy as a clam to hear Gorsky is still kicking ass > Go back to Gorsky and have him tell his side of the story and THEN have him go to the tunneler > Go back to Dan have tell him about Gorsky's plan to wipe out the black crawlers > Initiate the assault and if it works as 'expected' here then Dan should come running! > Profit!

Now do correct me if I'm wrong but I am fairly certain that's how it works to get Dan join the assault on the black crawler's base.

Ahhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!  >:(

Went through the whole game again without learning anything new, except that you can actually go to camp hathor(?) and give them the helmet of Isaac Hathor(?)

I tried to see if the black arrow would be hidden away by some means and that you had to press the 3 buttons on the eastern side of the Nucleus structure, although only 1 can actually be interacted with, tried to play with the valves that releases mutagen gas and the power switch outside of the power plant which upon closing and opening will make a power switch appear.

The 2nd thing I wanted to try was to 'spare' Jookhela in Core city's sewer by overpowering her with my will and then after returning from the DP with the medallion of the faceless, present it to her and see if some crazy bizarre sh*t would happen but n0p3!

Anyhow I'm done doing playthroughs on Underrail for a good while, maybe someone more 'clever' than me will figure out where the damn black arrow is to be found and if there is anywhere in the entire current game where the faceless medallion 'belongs' to.
But I'm done headbutting walls..!

I did reload a save up top and craft some good stuff. The really disappointing bit is I thought that Ancient Rathound skins would be like Rathound skins on steroids. Not the case...different properties, specifically it is lacking the bonus to crit. So all that ultra high quality Super Steel fiber I brought isn't doing much for me. Ah well, shows what I get for metagaming. So I ended up pumping up Biology instead of Tailoring so I can possibly make use of all the new bio ingredients in DC. So far, not much though. No new recipes, so maybe it will help me in some other way. Only thing I've been able to make so far is spirit poisoned throwing knives, which aren't good enough to use up a utility slot for with my build.

For what it's worth, one could 'skin' one of the "augmented rathounds" and manage to get 60+ regular rathound leather, although you might not get it on the first couple of tries but it's possible.
Easiest way to do this would be to go back up the elevator to Eldein's office once the 'last stand sequence' begins and just reload your auto-save until you manage to get at least 1 augmented rathound to appear among the 3 randomly 'spawned' faceless that'll be waiting when you step out of the elevator.
Should be said though that you need to kill all 3 really quick since you won't be able to use the elevator again until you're out of combat in 'technical terms' cause the faceless will keep coming out of the damn walls and so you might have 3-4 turns tops to kill said 3 random faceless and get the 60+ rathound leather that way.
But of course one could just try their luck in the DP elevator room and 'snatch' the skin(s) off augmented rathounds there although it can be quite a 'pain' with so many faceless 'troops' all around you.
Oh and by the way if you actually manage to go up the elevator and back down, expect plenty of faceless in 'different positions' compared to when you left, although at least the Tchortists who were still alive at the time you would go up the elevator would still be alive as well as the elevator to the DP would be one 'notch' away from arriving to your location so basically make a run for the elevator if you can!

Hrrrm so if I did make it back up, the faceless will still be in the elevator room and hostile? In that case, forget it! I basically let them kill everyone, and in fact I killed Eidan at the last possible moment to loot him, and bailed! There were TONS of faceless there when I left. I did already try what you suggested re: augmented rathounds in that fight, but it didn't drop a skin and I don't want to metagame this first run too much. The rathound skin I used was enough to give me 12% bonus to crit, so really no complaints.

Yeah well just pointing out that the augmented rathounds seem to drop the 'highest' quality-wise rathound leather in the game, unless alpha rathounds can drop 60+ rathound leather aswell although I've yet to see that ANYWHERE.

Yeah well apparently he isn't supposed to drop it anymore, what a damn shame :'(

Then agian "Bilocation" is highly overrated in my opinion, although great fun combined with "locus of control", but generally it's more effective to just use AoE "Enrage" since they'll just be killing each other with that xD

General / Stygian Exorcist robe missing?

Greetings

I'm certain I've seen it on my 1st playthrough but it would seem that said 'challenger' doesn't drop his robe any longer or at least not for me, anyone else having this 'issue' too?

General / Re: Anyone know what triggers Dan's dialogue about Gorsky?
« on: April 29, 2016, 07:56:19 am »
What I remember is that I was able to initiate this dialogue the first time I met Dan.

Hopefully this could be a hint...

Sounds like one has to reach a certain point with Gorsky's tasks in Core city then, that is if you can confirm that you did talk to Gorsky before ever talking to Dan.

Hmpf.

Will be interesting to see how 'burglars' if not outright 'home-invaders' COULD potentially be implemented at some point in order to actually give reason for storing all your goodies in your house over barrels outside of the core city market 'district'.
Although at the same time I'm already imagining coming home after been away for a good while, finding a pile of bodies burned to a crisp in front of the duo of plasma turrets...

General / Re: Lost in the Deep Caverns, where to go? (Spoilers)
« on: April 28, 2016, 09:30:29 am »
The one way to GUARANTEE your survival in the 'shroom kingdom' is the use of the biohazard suit, only thing that'll ever harm you while wearing it are the "chompers" that well 'chomp' with their nasty 'gawp'.
Yes it'll be slow and 'cumbersome' but you will be immune to all attacks and hazards except the bites of the chompers.

As of the fluids yes there is one in the burrower nest outside of the south-western elevator, but there's also a canister of the fluid in the storage room in the Tchortist outpost which you'll gain access to once you've 'scouted' the faceless outpost out.
Hint: DO NOT talk to the Tchortists in the DP before you have been 'mind probed' by the faceless.

Also want to say that all the "shafts" supposedly for the gate mechanism don't matter at all except the one you DO need which can be found next to the obelisks in the "labyrinth".

General / Re: Anyone know what triggers Dan's dialogue about Gorsky?
« on: April 28, 2016, 09:10:35 am »
I believe that you definitely have to talk to Dan first in foundry before anything else becomes possible.

First you have the 'introduction(s)' then you can talk to him right afterwards where he'll give you a 'tip' about some gun trading under the table, after that it seems you don't quite get to ask him about his 'boredom' specifically.
I suspect that there might be some kind of timer say 30 minutes an hour maybe after the initial 2 different 'dialogues' that you'll get to have with him prior being able to have the 3rd which has him mention Gorsky essentially.

But of course it could also have something to do with the progression of the 'go git' questline for "the beast" like the 3rd dialogue becomes available when you can ask Dan if he wants to come along and kill "the beast".
By the way I tried to see if you could have Dan help you out with "the beast" AND tell Dan afterwards that Gorsky is gonna waste the "black crawlers" and you actually CAN.
Actually perhaps it only becomes possible to have Dan talk about Gorsky when your character first hear about the black crawlers from Gorsky(?) in which you can then tell Dan (once Dan has mentioned the black crawlers) that Gorsky plans to waste the black crawlers for good.

I will have to 'test' for the specific 'chronology' behind all this in my next play-through, that is if I haven't gone barkin' mad after my planned 'attempts' at solving the mystery behind a certain "mark" and where the damn black arrow rifle is hidden.

General / Re: Would steel gloves and metal armor build work?
« on: April 28, 2016, 08:55:59 am »
As for an actual answer I would say yes, if you can run around in full metal armor and whack people with a sledgehammer then I don't see why one wouldn't be able to run around in full metal armor and punch things, besides since you'll be getting 8 STR I suppose the feat "wrestling" becomes an option.

Personally I prefer sledgehammers if I'm going to use full metal armor anyway, besides I for one think it's more 'interesting' to be some 'derailed' kung-fu-wannabe bastard who've played too much "Double dragon" dressing up in ancient rathound leather jacket 'n boots.
Although it is 'hard' to resist picking psychokinesis(?) for an "unarmed" user.
