You can fight in the arena for money, glory and admission to Gauntlet. Becoming a gladiator will also make the Core City oligarchs notice your prowess.
Objectives
- Defeat all your opponents in the Arena.
Walkthrough
You progress in the arena simply by winning fights.
Challenger fights
You'll start your arena career in these fights, fighting alongside two other challengers against groups of wildlife. Since each match has a large group of enemies, AoE weapons such as grenades are especially effective.
1. Rathounds (50 charons) — 7 Rathounds, 3 Rathound Alphas, 1 Ancient Rathound
2. Psi beetles (75 charons) — 9 Azuridae
3. Siphoners (100 charons) — 7 Siphoners
4. Burrowers (150 charons) — 6 Spawn, 4 Burrowers
From this point on, you will be fighting other challengers in 1v1 battles.
5. Pulverizer (200 charons)
6. Bull's Eye (300 charons)
Gladiator fights
After defeating Bull's Eye, you will become a gladiator and the spectators will give you a nickname based on your fighting style. All gladiator fights are 1v1 fights against other gladiators. Garry just outside the arena building can give you information about your next opponent and some tips. If Lanista tells you to wait while he organizes the next match, visiting Garry and returning is enough to get the next match started.
After you have won your first gladiator fight, the oligarchs of Core City will notice your prowess in the arena. One of the oligarchs (depending on your choice - Coretech, JKK or Praetorian Security) will personally offer you more work after you have completed previous jobs for his company and become a successful gladiator.
After you have defeated gladiators up to and including Chemical Agent, Lanista will let you apply for the Gauntlet.
1. Master Exploder (400 charons)
2. Chemical Agent (500 charons and admission to Gauntlet)
3. Surgeon (600 charons)
4. Zap (700 charons)
5. Stygian Exorcist (800 charons)
6. Dread Lord (1000 charons and title of Invictus) — Instead of Dread Lord you will be fighting Carnifex, or Garry as you know him from earlier.
Once you obtain the title of Invictus, you gain some unique dialogue options with many NPCs relating to how few people acknowledge your title.
