Spear Throw is a feat and a special attack.

Feat

Grants you the ability to throw a spear at the target, dealing 125%, plus additional 20% per unit of range, of normal weapon damage. The precision of this attack is dependent on throwing skill. Costs 25 action points.

Cooldown: 1 turn.

You will usually be able to retrieve the thrown spear afterwards, as it lands nearby the target, at no action point cost.


Requirements

Spear Throw feat also grants you the Rearm ability which allows spears to be picked up easily at no AP cost.

Throw Spear
Throws the spear at the target, dealing 125%, plus additional 20% per unit of range, of normal weapon damage. The precision of this attack is dependent on throwing skill.

Mechanics

Spear Throw is a melee attack for most purposes, excluding precision. Its damage is still based on Melee skill, and melee feats such as Cheap Shots or Opportunist work with it.

Despite being a special attack, it does not benefit from Smart Goggles since spears are not ranged weapons specified in the special attack bonus.

Like other targeted (not AoE) throwing attacks, Spear Throw precision is tested against the target's Evasion and is capped between 10% and 95%. Not meeting a spear's Strength requirement does not lower the precision of throwing it.


Specializations

  • Spear Throw: Action Point Cost (3 levels) — Reduces action point cost by 3 for each specialization point.
  • Spear Throw: Damage (10 levels) — Increases the damage multiplier by additional 1% per unit of range for each specialization point.
  • Spear Throw: Range (3 levels) — Increases the range by 1 for each specialization point.

History

  • 1.1.0.12 - Base damage changed to 125% (down from 150%) and damage per unit of range changed to 20% (down from 30%)
